Stephany from New South Wales, Australia

Posted by sharoncamarillo Admin on

Dear Sharon,

I have a mare and we are now weaning her foal. She doesn't seem to be paying much attention as to what I am trying. It's very frustrating. What do you suggest? Also, I would love to attend a Performance Horsemanship Clinic in Australia! Do you have any planned?

Dear Stephany,

Weaning is a very stressful time for your mare. Try spending time with her and doing some ground work. If the mare doesn't pay attention to you on the ground, it is unrealistic to think she would focus on you when you are riding her. Try not to expect too much from her until she has detached herself from the foal. Thank you for your interest in our clinic programs. I would enjoy returning to Australia. Nothing is scheduled for that part of the world right now, but keep checking our Clinic Schedule and be sure to look up our schedule if you ever plan on visiting the United States.

Good luck with your mare,

Sharon
